Wheelersburg defeated Notre Dame, 3-2, in a best of five tennis match Tuesday.

Notre Dame took the opening match as Jessica Smith defeated the Pirates’ Jessi Wright, 6-3, 6-1.

Wheelersburg came back to win three-straight matches after the Titans 1-0 start.

The Pirates will host Portsmouth Thursday.

Minford def. Valley


Minford defeated Valley, 3-2, in a best of five tennis match Tuesday.

The Falcons won all three singles matches and dropped both of the doubles contest.

Minford’s Katie Singer defeated Maddie Harley in a three set match, 7-5, 1-6, 7-6, to set the tone for the contest.

The Falcons travel to Portsmouth Wednesday.

Portmouth defeated Waverly, 3-2, in a best of five tennis match.

The Trojans’ Ali Miller won her singles match over Sher McLean 6-0, 6-1. The Tigers rallied to win the final two singles matches. Portsmouth won both doubles matches to win the contest.

The Trojans host Minford Wednesday.

Green defeated New Boston to improve its record to 3-5 with its third consecutive victory.

Micah Lewis, Hannah Cline and Catlin Hodson led the way for the Bobcats.

Green plays Western at home Thursday.

Waverly def. Wheelersburg

25-13, 25-15, 25-20

Waverly won its 12th game of the season after defeating Wheelersburg in straight sets.

Kayla Riffe, Bri Wiget and Ashley Burton led the way for the Tigers. Riffe had 20 digs. Wiget had 12 kills while Burton recorded eight kills.

Waverly puts its 12-1 record on the line as Minford comes to town Thursday.


South Webster def. New Boston


South Webster improved its record to 6-4-1 and 3-0 in SOC play with a victory over New Boston.

Shane Zimmerman scored on a penalty kick in the first half for the Jeeps while Kyle Keaton scored the game winner in the second half.

South Webster’s Trevor Coriell recorded 10 saves. Ethan Porter had 13 saves for the Tigers.

The Jeeps will play Valley at home on Tuesday.

Valley improved its record to 5-3 with a victory over Clay.

Bryce Romenello scored the game winning goal for the Indians in the 54th minute. Valley’s Tyler Montavon added to his season total with the first goal of the game and adding his second goal of the game in the second half.

Alex Gahm recorded nine saves for the Indians.

Valley will host Piketon at home Wednesday.

The Portsmouth golf team won a match at the Elks Country Club Tuesday over Ironton and South Webster.

The Trojans’ Trent Rodbell had the low round, shooting a 39, which was three-over par.

Gaylen Thornhill shot a 43 for the Fighting Tigers while Patrick Durnett shot a 46 to lead the Jeeps.

Portsmouth travels to Jackson Thursday to take part in an SEOAL match.
