Betty McMullen, 82

Betty Lou McMullen, 82, of Lucasville, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Piketon Nursing Center.

She was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Columbus, a daughter of the late Verna Cleo Fullwiler.

Betty was a retired Nurse Practitioner for the Veterans Administration and was an active Red Cross volunteer. Betty graduated from Valley High School in 1948, received her Nursing Diploma from Bethesda Hospital in 1952, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University in 1978, earned her Nurse Practitioner degree in 1983 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and in 1986 concluded her education with a Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina.

She is survived by two sons Kevin Brian (Linda) McMullen of Waverly and Phillip David (Pam) McMullen of Lucasville; five grandchildren Brian, David, and Michael McMullen, Joseph and Jessica Bowen; five great-grandchildren; and longtime friend who was like her sister, Loretta Hafer.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Michael Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Lucasville Cemetery. Friends may call 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the funeral Monday.
