The Center for Appalachian Philanthropy will partner with Head Start of Scioto County, to host Family Fun Night Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Welcome Center.

“Let’s Move Faith and Communities” in Lewis Co., Ky. and Scioto Co., Ohio, is the theme for Family Fun Night.

The Center for Appalachian Philanthropy is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which operates as an umbrella for a number of programs under its supervision and direction.

The mission of the Center for Appalachian Philanthropy is to grow philanthropy in Appalachia by being the hub to connect philanthropists to the people who need their support, while providing the tools and resources to build strong communities.

The Center currently operates in the central Appalachian region, primarily in the distressed and at-risk counties of Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia.

The Family Fun Night will include a plethora of activities, such as games, dancing, and Zumba to encourage healthy lifestyles.

The event is free, and open to the public and features free snacks and prizes to those who participate.

In the future, it will broaden its reach outside of these three states to serve the entire Appalachian region.
