In what was described as a serving battle, host Northwest edged out North Adams for a three-set sweep in Monday’s nonleague action.
Haleigh Vastine paced the Mohawks (13-7) with 12 points while she, Rachel Jenkins and Melanie Smalley each recorded four kills. Kalyn Mitchell finished with nine assists.
Northwest travels Tuesday to Waverly. A Tigers victory or South Webster loss secures an SOC II championship for Waverly.

Clay def. Valley 25-16, 23-25, 25-8, 26-24
Host Clay improved to 17-3 on the season with a four-set victory over Valley in nonconference action.
Marta Tomasi was one of three Panthers with double-digit kills as she led the team with 22. Kaylee Moore was one of three players from the home team to finish with at least 10 points as she had a team-high 15 and Gabby Hickman chipped in with 47 assists.
Clay hosts Notre Dame Tuesday.

Northwest sweeps home tri-match
Northwest swept both of its matches in Saturday’s home tri-match with Rock Hill and New Boston.
For the afternoon, Haleigh Vastine led the Mohawks with 18 kills and four digs while Maegan Lynn chipped in with 13 points. The result of the Rock Hill-New Boston match was not submitted at press time.

Clay takes pair in Saturday’s home action
Clay went 2-0 in matches against Chesapeake and West in Saturday’s action in Rosemount.
In the two matches, Gabby Hickman combined for 29 points and 44 assists, Sarah Pelfrey accumulated 13 kills and Kaylee Moore had three blocks. Chesapeake defeated West in the other match but no score was submitted at time of publication.
