A Blue Creek teenager is being charged in the rape of a five-year-old girl in Scioto County.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office received a call approximately 2:30 a.m. Tuesday from a Camp Street, Friendship residence stating that a five-year-old had been sexually assaulted.
Deputies responded to the residence which resulted in a report being filed for rape. Deputies were able to speak with witnesses and the victim’s mother which resulted in a detective being called out to assist with the investigation.
Donini said the victim was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment then transferred to Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe which specializes in younger victims who have been sexually assaulted.
Donini said the suspect was located along with his mother at the Camp Street location. The suspect was brought in for questioning along with his mother which resulted in his being charged with rape a felony of the first degree.
The juvenile suspect had a hearing at Scioto County Juvenile Court on Tuesday, and the court was in the process of appointing an attorney to represent him. A court spokesperson said the juvenile was placed in detention and no hearing date has been set.
