In response to an article that appeared in the Daily Times on July 21, Lute Supply of Rosemount has donated a pump valued at nearly $900 to Rosemount Point in Clay Township.

The pump helps to operate one of two the waterfalls a the point.

Tom Albrecht and his wife Teresa, with the blessing of the Clay Township Trustees, have maintained Rosemount Point for a number of years.

When asked why he and his wife wanted to take on the responsibility Albrecht said, “When we came down here we saw a bunch of weeds grown up and the pumps were not working. We’ve always liked looking at the landscaping and when we noticed all of that, we felt like we had to do something.”

Albrecht and his wife have since rebuilt the pumps and got them working, planted flowers, spread mulch, trimmed the shrubs and done a number of other improvements since taking over management of the space.

When one of the pumps went out and could not be repaired, Albrecht and the Clay Township Trustees were working on ways raise the necessary funding to replace the pump.

Tim Hines, a Clay Township Trustee, said the township could not purchase the pump because Rosemount Point is made up of land owned by the township, county and state.

Recognizing the need, Lute Supply stepped forward and purchased the pump.

Brian Hancock, Senior Vice President said in a released statement about the donation, “We are proud to be a part of this community. There is a strong sense of community pride that develops when a project like this is acknowledged. Tom and Teresa have done a terrific job in maintaining the ‘Point’ and have added their own touches to enhance the project even further. The Lute Family and Lute Supply team appreciate the opportunity to assist in such a worthy project.”

As a token of their appreciation the Clay Township Trustees recently honored Albrecht with a plaque.

Hines said was excited about the donation, “This is a tremendous help for us, we don’t know how we could have come up with the money. We were going to do fundraisers and Lutes stepped up and said we’ll donate that. This is what makes it a good community live in, to have people and businesses like this.”
