Marguerite “Peggy” Ratliff will observe her 100th birthday on Aug. 8, 2013. Born in Kentucky, graduated from Jackson High School in Ohio in 1931, and retired from William’s Manufacturing, she spent many years volunteering for the Portsmouth School System, Mercy Hospital, Southern Hills Hospital, and Receiving Hospital. She is the mother of Sharon Gallagher Carpenter and Gene Gallagher who were born, raised and graduated in Portsmouth. She has been residing in Columbus with her daughter for the past 20-plus years. Peggy is still active and attends church regularly. She is the grandmother of Lynne Carpenter Stein and has five great-grandchildren.
