Two children have told deputies someone attempted to grab one of them as they played near that child’s home, and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to sort through two different stories.

A McDermott mother told authorities her 8-year-old daughter and a friend went to play in the woods, and when the mother went inside the house to get something she heard the girls screaming. The mother said she came out and saw a white vehicle pull away, and the girls said a woman got out of the vehicle and said, “Come back here little (expletive),” and grabbed her by one arm.

According to the report, her friend grabbed the other arm and she fell down. That is when they said the vehicle pulled away.

Investigators talked to the woman and man who were in the vehicle, and they told a totally different story, saying they were going to a friend’s house and when they passed the girls, the girls began to scream. They said neither one of them ever got out of their vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
