WEST PORTSMOUTH — A semi tractor trailer, owned by Tomlinson Trucking Company in Beaver, Ohio, overturned at the Ohio 73/104 split in West Portsmouth while it was hauling salt shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday. Due to diesel fuel and oil leakage on roadway the road was closed.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident, but there is no information as to its cause. The OSHP said the driver was uninjured in the crash. Fire crews from Rush and Washington Township fire departments were to the scene quickly, and remained at the scene assisting with the accident.
A call to Tomlinson Trucking Company to obtain the name of the driver was not answered. His last name is Tomlinson, but his first name was not available.
The 73/104 intersection, one of the most dangerous in the county, was the site of a similar wreck on May 4 of this year. In that accident, a propane truck overturned, closing that same road for eight hours.
ODOT announced at about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday that the road had been re-opened to traffic.
