Guns continue to be a prime target for thieves in the area. Sunday, Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Henley-Deemer Road in McDermott where someone reported an entry at a home there. Taken in the entry were a .38 caliber revolver with a brown holster, valued at $200, a 20-gauge pump shotgun, valued at $400 and a 20-gauge single shot shotgun valued at $150.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said gun thefts, like the majority of other thefts in the region, are usually drug-related. He said many times when deputies and detectives execute search warrants on drug-related offenses, it is nothing to find 20 guns. He said it is difficult to find stolen guns because the serial numbers are often not recorded. In this weekend’s theft, those numbers were recorded and given to deputies.
