The Friends of SOMC, a fundraising and supportive organization for programs and services at Southern Ohio Medical Center, has announced the recipients of its 2013 Friends of SOMC Scholarship.
Each year, the Friends of SOMC award scholarships to qualified applicants pursuing studies in a health-related field. Applicants are encouraged to have a connection to SOMC either through themselves, or through a parent, guardian or spouse.
The Friends of SOMC Scholarship is $1,000 per school year for each student and is divided into $500 payments for the fall and winter semesters.
This year’s scholarship winners are: John Harcha of Portsmouth, who will be studying physician assistant studies at Marietta College; Chad Lands of Lucasville, who will be studying computer science atOhio Northern University; Christian Doyle of Portsmouth who will be studying nursing at Marshall University/ACTC; Melanie Smalley of Lucasville, who will be studying nursing at Shawnee State University; Casey Coriell of Portsmouth, who will be studying pre-med at Ohio State University and Jocelyn Hughes of Portsmouth, who will be studying nursing at Marshall University.
