In a criminal instance of deja vu, a South Shore, Ky. man out on bond on theft charges, was arrested for the same crime at the same location. Arrested was Jeffery Thacker age 32 of Beechy Creek Road.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office was investigating several reports of thefts from vehicles parked at Lowes located on Ohio River Road in Wheelersburg. The victims reported they parked and went inside of Lowe’s, and when they came out several thousand dollars worth of tools had been taken from their vehicles.
Donini said his office had arrested a suspect back in October of 2012 for breaking into vehicles at Lowe’s. The suspect was indicted and arraigned in Portsmouth Common Pleas court and was out on bond. That suspect was Thacker. Donini said The recent thefts were similar in nature to the ones in 2012 which led detectives to believe that it was the same suspect.
Detectives were able to obtain video from the Lowe’s parking lot and confirm the suspect was the same. The suspect was identified as Thacker, who had a warrant for failure to appear for sentencing out of Common Pleas Court. On May 13, the suspect was arrested for a petty theft and brought to the Scioto county jail. Upon his arrival he was interviewed by detectives and admitted to breaking into four vehicles at Lowe’s during May 5 through 10 of this year.
Thacker is being held on an indictment warrant for failure to appear without bond as a result of the thefts in October of 2012. Donini said four counts of felony theft against Thacker from May of 2013 have been taken to the Scioto County grand jury.
Donini said anyone with information regarding the case should contact Detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091. All calls will remain anonymous.
