Ralph Spradlin


Ralph Dick Spradlin passed away April 23, 2013, at the Veterans Medical Center in Houston. A former resident of Scioto County, he was born on Pond Creek Road to Archie and Naomi Stewart Spradlin, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Christine Wolfenbarger Spradlin.


A World War II Army Veteran, he served in the Occupational Forces in Japan. He was a member of the VFW, and a member of the Lucasville, Ohio Masonic Lodge 465. A former employee of General Motors Frigidaire Division in Dayton, Ohio, he moved to Houston in the mid-1950s. There he worked for Ambox Corporation, as well as Gulf Coast Fabrications, from which he retired.


Dick leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: Carolyn Kimich of Anderson, Texas, Donna Emmette of Houston, and Sherry (James) Janowski of Magnolia, Texas, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Janice Diehlmann of Waverly, Ohio and a brother, Donald (Toah) of Powell, Ohio, several nephews and nieces, and special friends Gilbert and Emma Cavazos of Houston. Dick was a loving man with a generous heart, and will be missed.


The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Brookside Funeral Home at 13401 Eastex Freeway, Lauder, Texas 77039. Condolences may be sent to the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
