Pike County Dogwood Festival starts today

Plans and preparations have been made and the 43rd annual Pike County Dogwood Festival is set to take place in the streets of Piketon from Thursday, April 25 through Sunday, April 28.
The festival starts with opening ceremonies taking place on the Village Green at 6 p.m. The Piketon High School Band will perform on the Middle Street Stage at 7 p.m. at 8 p.m. there will be Karaoke by DA Karaoke at the Main Street Stage to round out the schedule for Thursday.
Friday’s schedule starts at 5 p.m. with the Fun Bunch Cloggers performing on the Village Green at 5 p.m. and Mays Gone will perform on the Middle Street Stage at the same time.
At 6:30 p.m. the Piketon High School Musical Cast will preform ‘Back To The 80’s’ at 6:30 p.m. on the Village Green. The Lewis Brothers will perform on the Middle Street Stage at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, April 27 the Cyclist Dogwood Tour starts the schedule out at 8 a.m. this event will start at Piketon High School. Car show registration will take place at Piketon Grade School starting at 9 a.m.
Registration for the 5K Run & Walk starts at 10 a.m. at Piketon High School with the walk and run taking place at 10:30 a.m.
An Abraham Lincoln impersonator will perform at the festival twice on Saturday once at 11:30 a.m. and at 3:30 p.m.
At Noon on Saturday, the Waverly Jazz Band will perform on the Village Green.
At 1 p.m. Saturday, Jim Henrey will present a slide show presentation at the Dogwood Festival Office on the history of Pike County Railroads called “Pike’s Past-Railroads of Pike County.” Henrey will also give a slide show presentation at 3 p.m. at the Dogwood Festival Office on the history of the Ohio and Erie Canal in Pike County.
The car show will take place at 2 p.m. at Piketon Middle School, with the High School Chorus performing at Piketon Grade School at the same time.
The First Capital Cloggers and the Relentless Mules will be performing at 3 p.m. First Capital Cloggers will perform on the Village Green and the Relentless Mules will perform on the Middle Street Stage.
Other highlights of the Saturday schedule include, Thomas Dirk performing at 5 p.m. on the Middle Street Stage. An arm wrestling tournament taking place on the Village Green at 4:30 p.m.
N’Step will perform on the Village Green at 6:30 p.m. and Stone Johnson will round out the schedule when he performs on the Middle Street Stage at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, April 28 the festivals grand parade will take place throughout the village streets. At 4 p.m. there will be a drawing for the Dogwood Quilt at Piketon Methodist Church.
The last event of the festival will take place at 4:30 p.m. when the Adelphi Band performs on the Village Green.
