Notre Dame defeated last year’s Division IV State Runner-Up Vienna Mathews 3-1 in the first day of the 2013 Wendy’s Classic in Akron.


Miranda Pauley led the Titans at the plate with a home run, a walk and two runs batted in while Jen Arnzen and Brooke Pierron each had two hits. Tori Harr struck out 12 for Notre Dame.


The Titans were scheduled to play defending Division I State Champion North Canton Hoover later Friday but the game was moved to 9 a.m. Saturday. Their opponent will be determined after the contest with the Vikings.
