Chillicothe company awarded military contract

The Southern Ohio Procurement Outreach Center, which serves five Appalachian counties including Scioto County, is announcing that the Ross Counties’ Aadvantage Tent Fittings, located near Chillicothe, has been awarded a contract with the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia.
The Southern Ohio Procurement Outreach Center (SOPOC) is a Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) that helps small businesses break into Federal and State contracting. The counties include, in addition to Scioto, Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Vinton. All services provided are free of charge.
“Whenever I was State Rep., and this goes back to the (President Bill) Clinton time period, they put into federal law that, when it comes to purchasing things for the federal government, if all things are equal, and a company that was doing it was located in an Appalachian county, they got extra points for that,” Scioto County Development Director and former State Representative Todd Book said. “That is ongoing.”
The contract, which is for military tent stakes, has an estimated maximum value of $968,806.00 over a 3-year period with the initial delivery order for the first three months valued at $241,017.84.
Aadvantage Tent Fittings is SOPOC’s top manufacturer in the ten-county region. They also currently hold two General Service Administration (GSA) contracts that can be utilized by all branches of the federal government. They were recently audited by GSA and received the highest rating possible—exceptional.
Aadvantage Tent Fittings, which was established in 1991, quickly found its place in the commercial and military tent industry and has been expanding ever since. They received their first government contract in 2003.
“I can’t say enough about the hard work and dedication Mike and Ben Hall, along with their employees, have put forth over the years,” Jordan Lucas, Program Director for the SOPOC, said. “It’s not easy to find your niche these days and they have certainly found theirs. It’s amazing to think that a critical component for the U.S. military is made right here in our backyard. It’s fantastic for them to have won this award and to support the war fighter.”
The company also supplies thousands of tent rental businesses and manufacturers with components and accessories nationwide and in Canada.
