National Library Week


This year, National Library Week will take place from April 15-20. For those of you unfamiliar with the celebration enjoy this excerpt from the American Library Association’s website:

Writing Workshop 2013


The annual Writing Workshop is one of the highlights of the library’s year. Published local authors teach aspiring authors about the writing and publication process. Each session will take place on a Tuesday evening in April.


April 16, Jules Bennett, will be presenting ‘Plotter or Pantser? Starting Your Book’ at 6pm. If you would like additional information about the 2013 Writing Workshop, please call 354-5688 ext. 10513.


Pieces & Patches Quilting


This quilting group welcomes beginners as well as experienced quilters. This program is intended for adults. Please join us on April 15 from 6-7:45pm at the Lucasville library location.

The Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting its Yoga group at 10am in the Copley Meeting Room on Tuesday, April 16.


Inspirational Book Group:

Dinner and a Movie


The South Webster Branch Library will be hosting Dinner and a Movie for adults over the age of 18 from 5:00-7:30 pm April 16. Registration is required. Don’t forget to bring a covered dish to share. Straw Hat Door Decoration


Join us April 18 at 4pm and create a Spring door decoration using a straw hat, faux flowers, ribbon and a little creative imagination. All through the month of April you can participate in our monthly trivia contest. You can pick up a copy of the trivia sheet at the Main Branch or go to our website at yourppl.org to fill it out. All entries need to be turned in by April 30th.

April marks the 20th anniversary of the Lucasville Prison Riot. This event changed our county forever. We want to make sure that this history is recorded.
