For the second time in two business days, a man has robbed a bank in this region. At approximately 12:24 p.m. Monday, the Lawrence County 911 received a call concerning a bank robbery at the US Bank, located at 7537 County Rd. 107 in Proctorville, Ohio.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said bank employees told his office that a while male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a “skinny build,” short brown hair, and a mustache, wearing sunglasses, a ball cap, and a dark-colored windbreaker pullover, entered the bank and attempted to cash a check. Bank employees said there were some discrepancies with the check and the teller refused to cash it.

It was at that point employees said the suspect began to demand that the teller give him all of the money she had. The suspect reportedly kept his hands in his pockets and never showed any type of weapon. The teller did hand over an undetermined amount of cash and the suspect left the building, fleeing westbound on foot.

The bank was occupied with three employees and no other customers. No one was injured. The investigation is ongoing and the FBI has been contacted.

The details of the robbery are very similar to the one that occurred last Friday in Wheelersburg. The Scioto County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the robbery that occurred at Charter One Bank in Wheelersburg.

Like the Lawrence County robbery the suspect reportedly entered the bank, approached the teller and had a brief conversation concerning his desire to cash a check, at which time he displayed a paper note demanding money and instructing the teller not to talk. The teller immediately complied and gave the suspect an undetermined amount of cash at which time the suspect fled on foot, traveling east away from the bank.
