Herbert Hensley, 88


Herbert Eugene Hensley, 88, of Sciotoville, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Chillicothe Veterans Hospital. Born on March 5, 1925, in Twin Valley, he was a son of the late Daniel and Stella Mae Rose Hensley. Herb was a Navy veteran of WWII, a member of Berean Baptist Church, former member of the American Legion and was a retired brakeman from the N&W railroad. He was an avid fisherman.


Also preceding him in death were his wife, Garnetta Joye Marshall Hensley, a daughter, Cheryl Louise Hurst, a brother, Howard Lee Hensley, and two grandsons, Darren Patrick Hurst and Ronnie Dale Hurst. Surviving are three sons, Rickey Lee (Enid) Hensley of Oak Hill, Danny Steven Hensley of Cassatt, S.C. and Timothy Ray Hensley of Sciotoville, two daughters, Jean Anne (Paul) Sisler of Wheelersburg and Pamela Sue (Timothy) Lewis of Sciotoville, 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.


A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Berean Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Mann officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion. The family will receive friends at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to the service at Berean.
