Woman facing drug charges after traffic stop
PDT Staff Writer
A Dayton area woman is facing felony drug charges following a traffic stop Wednesday night on U.S. 23. Porsha N. Smith, 24, is charged with possession of heroin, a first degree felony.
Troopers of the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol say they stopped a 2002 Lincoln LS on U.S. 23 in Lucasville at around 11:27 p.m. for a window tint and registration violation. Troopers said they detected an odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle, and, as a result, a search was conducted.
After questioning the driver, who was Porsha Smith, troopers said she advised them that she was concealing contraband on her person.
At the Portsmouth Post, Smith reportedly voluntarily forfeited approximately 69 grams of suspected heroin, with a street value of $10,350. Smith was cited into Portsmouth Municipal Court.
