Beatrice Johnson, 88


Beatrice Louise Johnson, 88, of Portsmouth, passed away on Feb. 1, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born Dec. 26, 1924, in New Boston to the late Harry and Anna Eblin Warner.


With her late husband, Joe, she lived her entire life in the Portsmouth, Ohio, and Greenup, Kentucky, area and was known, with Joe, for the quality arts and crafts they developed, displayed and sold at various events and fairs.


Beatrice is survived by son, Lester Harris of Plymouth, Minnesota; two daughters, Jackie Howell of West Portsmouth, and Joanne Owens of Portsmouth; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. For over three years she has been cared for daily by Jackie Howell, Vannie Throckmorton, Jeff Chinn and Kevin W. Johnson.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira P. “Joe” Johnson; and sons, Robert O. Harris and Paul E. Johnson.


At her request, there shall be no memorial service. Remembrance of Bea Johnson may be made by a tax-deductible contribution to the Main Street Portsmouth Paul E. Johnson Memorial Fund (payable to: MSP PJ Fund), P.O. Box 620, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662-0620.


Arrangements are under the direction of F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth.
