LAWRENCE COUNTY — A South Point man crashed and was ejected from his vehicle Tuesday morning after leading authorities in a chase through Lawrence County.

According to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call reporting a domestic dispute at 1365 County Road 1, Apt. 11, in South Point at about midnight on Jan. 22. Before deputies could arrive, the suspect — Jacob Ball, age 25, of 1037 County Road 1, in South Point — fled the scene driving a 2000 Daewoo. Deputies spotted the vehicle near mile marker 19 and signaled for the vehicle to stop. Ball did not stop, however, and led officers in a pursuit that began at about 12:06 a.m.

The pursuit approached the intersection of U.S. 52 and County Road 144 where other vehicles were stopped at a traffic light. Ball attempted to drive his vehicle through the median, and flipped the vehicle over. Ball was ejected from the vehicle which came to a stop upside-down in the westbound lane at about 12:08 a.m.

Ball suffered injuries and was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital by the Lawrence County EMS. The Ohio State Highway Patrol handled the accident scene.

Ball will be charged with assault, aggravated trespass, auto larceny, disrupting public service, and failure to comply with orders of a police officer. Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said other charges could be added as the investigation continues.
