Minford’s defense pitched a first-quarter shutout against Rock Hill and cruised to a 52-29 win in the semifinals of the 2012 New Boston Holiday Tournament.


Brooklyn Yeley led all scorers with 12 points and Gabby Grose added eight in the win. Minford plays in the 4:45 championship game Saturday against the winner of the New Boston-Ashland (Ky.) Rose Hill Christian. Results were unavailable at press time.

Kacie Hall’s game-high 15-point, seven-rebound performance highlighted South Webster’s 70-32 home nonconference win Thursday over Clay.

Kaci Messer added 10 points while Courtney Blanton added nine points and seven assists in the win. Emily Widdowson and Katie Redding led the Panthers with 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Jeeps are back in action Jan. 7 at Northwest. Clay hosts Piketon Jan. 5.
