A car collided with a sports utility vehichle Sunday afternoon and caused damage to the SOLACE (Surviving Our Loss And Continuing Everyday) office on Scioto Trail in Portsmouth.

According to SOLACE Director Jo Anna Krohn, “so the story goes, there was a car pulling out onto Scioto Trail when an SUV pulling onto one of the streets and hit the car, which slammed into the building.”

The SOLACE office is located at 2837 Scioto Trail in Portsmouth.

Krohn said as a result the front end of the building caved in.

“It broke the glass out of the front windows and caved the floor in and a piece of the roof fell in as well,” Krohn said. “From what I know of, no one was hurt seriously in the accident, though some were taken to the hospital as a precaution. So, yeah it’s kind of a mess up there right now.”

She said a crew was already working to restore the building Monday.

“No one was in the building at the time of the accident,” Krohn said.

Close to where the accident occurred to the building, SOLACE has an Angel Tree mural on one of the side walls.

Krohn said the Angel Tree mural was not damaged as a result of the accident.

“I think someone was looking out for that. It (the accident) caved in the front of the building but the side wall (containing the angel tree) is just fine,” Krohn said.

She said people should be in the SOLACE office today to conduct business.

The SOLACE office location previously was a pain clinic for a short period of time in the spring of 2011.
