Methamphetamine continues to make a comeback in the area with the arrest of a Portsmouth woman.
Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware and Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said at approximately 10:51 a.m. Wednesday, members of the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, which consists of narcotics detectives from the Portsmouth Police Department, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, and agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrested 32-year-old Misty L. Hurt of 4228 Dever St. Portsmouth on a warrant to arrest on indictment which had been issued by the Scioto County Common Pleas Court for charges of Illegal Manufacture of Drugs, a felony of the first degree, Illegal Assembly or Possession of Chemicals for the Manufacture of Drugs, a felony of the third degree, and Endangering Children, also a third degree felony.
The warrant for Hurt’s arrest had been issued after a case against Hurt had been presented to a Scioto County grand jury by Task Force Detectives and the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office in early December.
On Nov. 7, Task Force detectives discovered an active one pot methamphetamine cook and chemicals and equipment used to manufacture methamphetamine in Hurt’s residence, which resulted in the arrest of Dustin E. Carver, 32, of the same address for Illegal Manufacture of Drugs, a felony of the first degree.
Both Hurt and Carver are being held in the Scioto County Jail without bond and awaiting an arraignment in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.
