A Portsmouth woman has been arrested on drug charges and at the same time, had her residence condemned.
Cynthia Fletcher Rowe, 31, of 1665 Eighth St., is charged with the illegal manufacture of drugs, a felony of the second degree, and on an outstanding warrant from Portsmouth Municipal Court for failing to appear for a charge of passing bad checks.
Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware said at approximately 10:06 a.m. Monday, members of the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, discovered an active one pot methamphetamine lab in the basement of 1665 Eighth St. in Portsmouth.
With the assistance of the Portsmouth Fire Department, task force detectives arrested Rowe and removed the vessel containing the methamphetamine lab from the residence to process and neutralize the contents.
Rowe was placed in the Scioto County Jail on a $26,000 bond.
Due to the methamphetamine lab and the deplorable living conditions found inside the residence, the Scioto County Health Department responded to the scene and condemned the residence.
