Billie Jean Pastorius, 63
Billie Jean Pastorius, 63, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, Dec.12, 2012, at the SOMC Hospice Center. She was born Nov. 9, 1949, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late John Harding and Lucille Marilla Holt Newsome, Sr. Billie was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse at SOMC where she had worked for 42 years. She graduated from PHS in 1968 and from the Mercy Hospital School of Practical Nursing in 1969, was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, a Past President of the PTO at Vern Riffe School and supported the Vern Riffe School, MRDD and the Portsmouth High School.
Surviving Billie is her husband of 38 years, Charles Richard “Butch” Pastorius, whom she married in Portsmouth on Sept. 21, 1974; her son, John Richard “JR” Pastorius at home; three brothers, John H. Newsome, Jr. of Portsmouth, Randel Wayne (Becky) Newsome of Greenfield, Ted W. (Tiffany) Newsome of Portsmouth; three sisters, Romaine N. (Allan) Pollchik of Chillicothe, Joyce A. (Larry) Huffman of Portsmouth and Lola M. (Howard) Newton of Rosemount; her nieces and nephews, Kelly (Jay) Little, Michael (Brian Forney) Newsome, Randa Freeborn, Andy (Julie) Newsome, Jennifer Skaggs, Larry Huffman, Bobby (Debra) Huffman, Stephanie (Jared) Hettinger, Nathan (Sarah) Newton, Nick Newton, Max Newsome; her sister-in-law Sharon (Gary) Hatchell of Amelia Island, Fla. and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Charles officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens at Franklin Furnace. The family will receive friends at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth, Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at Cornerstone United Methodist Church from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.
