It was a very cold day with an occasional snowflake falling. Nine year old Braxton Sammons had several things he could do that would keep him inside and warm on this day. However Braxton also had a 3-year old friend Boston Schwamberger who has a Pontine Gliomas brain tumor and is currently undergoing chemo and radiation treatments and he wanted to do something special for him.

Braxton decided that he wanted to put up a hot cocoa stand and sell hot cocoa in front of his Grandparents’ house on Duis Street. He purchased went out the day before and obtained the supplies to do so. He prepared signs for the stand. Some were displayed saying “Blessing for Boston”. He also had a special green shirt with the slogan on it.

Braxton set up and opened the stand at 10 am on Saturday morning, despite the cold weather. He operated it until Noon. The community came out to support his cause purchasing the cocoa and making some donations.

Braxton’s efforts were well rewarded as he raised well over $750.00 which he gave to Boston and his family to aid them in his treatment and recovery.
