Teacher Education Scholarship established at Shawnee State University
Frederick McKinley, graduate of Lucasville High School and The Ohio State University taught high school mathematics before serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Lieutenant McKinley was a navigator on a B24 bomber and died during a bombing mission in 1945. He was dedicated to teaching, education and mathematics.
To honor his memory, McKinley’s daughter Cheryl McKinley Prostler and his granddaughter, Sarah Ann Sunday, established the Frederick McKinley Teacher Education Scholarship at Shawnee State University.
The scholarship is being awarded during the 2012-13 academic year. The recipient must be a full time student majoring in Teacher Education and remain in good academic standing. Preference will be given to applicants who are residents of Lucasville at the time of application.
The recipient will be selected by Shawnee State University through the Office of Financial Aid.
