One of the area’s most popular events, the Halloween Car Show, will be held this Saturday at Minford Middle School in Minford. Proceeds from the show will go to the Greenup County Youth Competition Cheerleaders for the Cheer Nationals at Walt Disney World. The G.C.Y. Competition Cheerleaders are five time National Champs. Bobbie Bell Smith has, for the 32nd year, been involved in car shows. And it’s her 10th year of holding the car show in Minford at the Middle School.


One of the highlights of the show is Smith’s 1967 Camaro “SS” Convertible which has had an outstanding year. Out of the last 9 shows the Camaro has been recognized as well as awarded: Best of Show (Scioto County); Autosmarts “2012” Car Show Tour-Boots Pick; Best Engine (Columbus,Oh.); Best Camaro (Grove City-Boys Ranch); Best SS Chevy (Grove City-Rotary Show) Best Camaro (Augusta,Ky.) Best Camaro (Jackson,Oh); National Award (Boonesborough Boogie Nationals-891 registered vehicles). Eight out of nine shows have resulted in speciality awards for the “2012” Car Show Season on behalf of the Camaro.


Categories include G.C.Y. Cheerleaders Pick; Best G.M.; Best Ford; Best Mopar; Best Truck; Best Street Rod; Best Corvette; Best Camaro and Best Mustang. All will receive three foot trophies. Best of Show - 1900-1986 will receive a four foot trophy, and Best of Show - 1987-present will also receive a four foot trophy. Top 30 (1900-1986) will receive two foot trophies and Top Ten (1987-Present) will also receive two foot trophies. First, second and third prizes will be awarded for Best Halloween Costume. Trailered vehicles are welcome. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, concessions and a hay ride.


Registration fee is $10, and registration is from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with trophies to be awarded at 4 p.m. Anyone needing more information may call Smith at 740-820-9526. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 28.
