Thelma Whittaker, 91


Thelma Irene Whittaker, 91, of South Shore, Ky. went home be with Jesus, Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at South Shore Nursing and Rehab Center in South Shore, Ky.


She was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Princeton, West Virginia a daughter of the late Henry and Julia Dehart Six.


Thelma was a homemaker, a member of the Micco Jesus Church in Logan, W. Va., and a 1939 Williamson W.Va. High School graduate.


She is survived by two sons, Carl (Olivia) Whittaker of King, N.C., Marvin (Wadalene) Whittaker of Pawley’s Island, S.C.; one daughter, Colleen (Bob) Taylor of South Shore, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.


She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Burl Whittaker Sr., Aug. 16, 1982; one son, James Burl “Bubby” Whittaker Jr.; three brothers, Lawrence, Hubert, and Harry Six; three sisters, Virginia Staten, Pauline Banai, and Ruth Webb.


Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at Weaver’s Mortuary in Williamson, W. Va. with Jim Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, W.Va.. Friends may call 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, and 11: a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday at Weaver’s Mortuary in Williamson.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Micco Jesus Church, PO Box 505, Logan, W.Va., 25647.
