NELSONVILLE, Ohio — The Belpre boys and Trimble Girls took top prize at Wednesday’s Nelsonville-York Invitational. Both Meigs and Eastern had runners compete but neither school had enough runners to qualify in the team competitions.
The boys competition was won by Belpre with 27 points, followed by Lancaster with 32 and Trimble with 77. Kennley Wolfe won the boys race with a time of 18:17.5, while his teammate Cray Sistrunk took second with a time of 18:23.5 and Lancaster’s Noah Bell finished third with a time of 18:28.6. There were 35 racers in the boys competition.
Eastern’s Tyson Long finished 14th overall with a time of 20:17.9 to lead the Eagles. Johann Wolfe (22:22.2) took 25th place followed by Brock Smith (22:26.7) at 26th to round out the EHS runners.
The Marauders were led by Brandon Mahr, who finished 15th with a time of 20:34.3, followed by Mitchell Howard, who finished 17th with a time of 21:09.2. Forrest Nagy (21:23.2) finished 20th, while Bradley Helton (22:37.9) finished 28th to round out the Meigs runners.
Trimble was the only team with enough runners to qualify for a team score in the girls race. The race was won by Trimble’s Kate Spencer with a time of 21:39.0, followed by Nelsonville-York’s Lily Parsons (22:38.3) and Belpre’s Ashley Carter (23:20.9). There were 23 runner in the girls competition.
Keri Lawrence led the Lady Eagles with a time of 23:55.0, which was good enough for a fourth place finish on the day. Savannah Hawley finished sixth with a time of 24:00.7, while Chantel Barnhart had a 24:08.8 to finish seventh and round out the EHS runners.
Meigs was led by ninth place finisher Haley Kennedy with a time of 25:16.3, followed by 14th place finisher Maggie Smith with a time of 27:10.2. Tess Phelps (28:07.8) finished 17th and Tara Walzer-Kuharic (29:20.4) finished 19th to round out the MHS runners.
