A Sciotoville resident, James Lewis, age 28, has been arrested on burglary charges after reportedly trying to run from sheriff’s officers.
According to Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini, his office received a call from a Alleghany Hill residence in Wheelersburg, Wednesday, stating that somebody had kicked-in the door to their home and stole $15,000 worth of items. Deputies responded to this location were a report was taken and forwarded to a detectives for an investigation.
On Friday, a detective and a deputy responded to several locations throughout the county working on this investigation, which led them to a house on Woodland Avenue in Sciotoville, where the suspect — James Lewis of Sciotoville —was arrested while attempting to run out the back door.
Lewis was charged with one count of burglary, a felony of the second degree, and served a warrant for theft a misdemeanor of the first degree. Lewis is being held on a $11,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday.
Donini said this is still an ongoing investigation, which has resulted in locating most of the stolen property, and more charges could be presented to the Grand Jury on a later date.
